Touring > Shows on the Go
The Shows on the Go program tours professional performing arts productions into regional West Australian communities. Country Arts WA gathers responses from regional communities in order to select which productions tour, which means the communities themselves, have a say in the selection.
The Touring Menu is a catalogue of possible touring productions from which the Shows on the Go program is compiled. If you would like to get your production into the Touring Menu, you can find more information and an application form here.
If your production is selected to tour Country Arts WA will coordinate all aspects of the tour. This includes:
- Itinerary Development
- Contracting Presenters
- Promotional Campaign (including television commercial)
- Payment of touring costs (including accommodation, travel allowances, flights, freight and rental vehicles)
- Provision of an on-road tour manager to ensure that the tour runs smoothly and to schedule.
Shows on the Go tours into some of the smallest and most remote communities in the state. This means that there is often little or no technical infrastructure at the venue. Each Shows on the Go tour must be self contained, touring with all of the relevant lighting, sound and technical equipment needed, as well as the crew required to stage the production.
Shows on the Go tours typically tour for three to six weeks, performing three to four shows each week. The tours operate on a 6-day week. Regional touring is rigorous, can be tiring and sometimes difficult, yet can be incredibly rewarding.
