RAF EOI Frequently Asked Questions

What programs will I be assessing?

Panellists will be chosen from the pool throughout the year for assessment of Quick Response Grants as well as two two-day meetings held annually in Perth to assess Mentorship Program and Projects & Residencies applications.

What do I have to do as a Panellist?

Quick Response Grants require Panellists to read grant applications (approximately two A4 pages, a budget and up to five support letters) and report back with their assessment within two days. This is all done via email. It is likely Panellists will assess one Quick Response Grant application a month at most.

Projects & Residencies and Mentorship Program applications require Panellists to read approximately 20-25 applications (each application is approximately six A4 pages, a budget and 10 pages of support material). Panellists will then attend a two-day meeting in Perth to discuss and assess the applications. These meetings occur twice a year and all travel costs are covered by Country Arts WA. It is likely that Panellists would attend at least one of these biannual meetings.

What is Country Arts WA looking for in a Panellist?

In appointing panel members, Country Arts WA seeks to achieve a pool of panellists that will provide a diverse coverage of Western Australian arts. It is a preference for panel members to have specialist expertise in one or more art-forms and possess an informed opinion of community needs, response and interest. In selecting panel members, consideration is also given to a broad, balanced and fair representation of art-forms, genders and regions as well as arts management and community interests, including those of multicultural and Indigenous Western Australia.

Regions which are not represented on the current Panel are Peel, Goldfields-Esperance, Gascoyne and Wheatbelt. We are also interested in gaining people with experience in (but not limited to) dance, literature, health work, technology or youth work.

What if I have other commitments that clash when you want me to do an assessment?

Country Arts WA wants to expand the pool so that we are not overly reliant on a small group of people. If you don't have time to assess a funding round, then you just need to tell us and we'll check back with you next time.
