 CANWA Expression of Interest: Artistic Director

Community Arts Network Western Australia Ltd. (CAN WA) is seeking an expression of interest for an Artistic Director/Facilitator to work in on an exciting regional project with Eastern Wheatbelt communities to be showcased at the Keela Dreaming Festival, which will take place on Sunday, 13 March 2011 in Kellerberrin, WA.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about community arts and skilled in working with community groups and school children using a creative and collaborative framework. A CAN WA Coordinator and one or two additional artists (who will be appointed in consultation with the Artistic Director) will support the Artistic Director.

The time frame for this project is October 2010 to April 2011. We envisaged that within this period the there would be six to eight weeks full time equivalent. CAN WA has done extensive work with these communities and we have established positive relationships that need to be enhanced and maintained.

CAN WA will provide a more detailed brief once the applicants have been shortlisted.

Celebrate WA seeks Artistic Director for OZ Concert 2011

Celebrate WA is a not for profit organisation who annually present for the Western Australian community Oz
Concert.


Oz Concert has a 23 year history in WA as a free community event that showcases Western Australian talent, exciting cultural performances and entertains an audience of over 7,000 people in the grounds of Government House on the 25th January annually.


Celebrate WA oversees the development of a balanced, varied and creative program for Oz Concert 2011.

The theme for Oz Concert 2011 is "Creating Connected Communities".

Celebrate WA are pleased to have engaged Spirit Productions to manage the infrastructure and artistic production for the event.


On behalf of Celebrate WA, Spirit Productions are seeking an enthusiastic and creative person to assist with the
artistic production of Oz Concert 2011. The successful person will work directly with Hamish McSporran from Spirit Productions. They will enjoy working in a small and dynamic team, enjoy the challenge or working with community groups, bring to the team their creativity and talent.


You Role will be as follows:


• Attend all meeting as required for pre production
• Attend all performer selection meetings, rehearsals and show days
• Liaise with selected artists with all music needs and selections
• Create strong relationships with a cast of great cultural diversity
• Work closely with the lighting and sound team to create the look and feel of the show
• Produce an opening sequence for the show that will run for approx 5 minutes using the cast that have been
selected for the concert and Or, engage specific talent that fits within the concert theme to independently
perform the opening
• Co ordinate and produce stage entries and exits for the performers and produce segues of interest
• Work closely with the stage manager producing run sheets and concert details
• Coordinate and manage the finale sequence involving all the cast on and off the stage at the end of the show
• Work closely with the event manger and the event team to ensure that all of the cast are fully informed at all
times with regards to rehearsals and show requirements
• Create a strong feeling of community and harmony with the artists

 STEPS Youth Dance Company Position Available - Acting General Manager

STEPS Youth Dance Company is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced administrator to act in the position of General Manager for twelve months, commencing October 2010. The contract will cover a Maternity Leave absence.

The Acting General Manager will lead our small and dedicated team in an exciting year of projects planned for 2011, and will be responsible for the business administration and management of the Company's operations.

Shire of Augusta Margaret River Seeks Public Art

Artists and community members interested in creating artworks for the new Augusta-Margaret River Shire Civic and Administration Centre Precinct are invited to provide an expression of interest to Council.


The Shire has allocated $125,000 to develop and install public artworks in the new Civic and Administration Centre under its percentage for art policy.

The public art will complement the landscape and built façade of the new centre, promoting both the history of the region and the present nature of Augusta-Margaret River.
Themes for art may include Indigenous Augusta-Margaret River, early European settlers, Group Settlement Scheme, wine industry, surf, sea change lifestyle, present day artists, biodiversity and the natural environment.


Shire President Ray Colyer said the new building, currently under construction, will become an iconic landmark building reflecting the strength of the region.


"The public art initiative aims to promote, celebrate and show case a growing catalogue of culturally significant public art to the community and visitors to the region each year," Cr Colyer said The Public Art Selection Panel, comprising local relevant groups and individuals, has been appointed by the Shire to help determine what pieces will be commissioned.


In particular, a fitting artwork will be commissioned to replace the Gloucester Park gates and to commemorate the group settlers and the work of Sir James Mitchell in fostering the group settlement scheme.
