Become a Member Donate Today

Country Arts WA works with all nine regions to ensure arts and culture is woven into the fabric of life in every regional community in Western Australia.

Recognised as a lead organisation, Country Arts WA is the peak body for regional arts and is an independent, not-for-profit, membership based organisation. We are the only arts organisation in WA with a state-wide arts and cultural brief.

The role of Country Arts WA is to build creativity, capacity and connection in and between regional communities to further develop Western Australia’s regional arts sector.

Don’t miss out on WA’s largest regional arts celebration! You will hear about game-changing projects like Heartwalk at #summitmandurah, a public arts project that transformed a struggling city centre into a vibrant arts and cultural precinct. Learn how you can do it too! Registrations close 5 October. Yesterday Jessica Anderson, our Development Director, attended FACET (Forum Advocating Cultural and Eco-Tourism) to talk Aboriginal Tourism in WA. The day included a cultural tour led by Walter McGuire of Go Cultural Aboriginal Tours & Experiences who spoke about the significance of Kaarta Koomba (Kings Park), Goordandalup (near Pelican Point) and the six Nyungar seasons. FACET hold several events a year and advocate for sustainable tourism in WA. They also have a conference coming up, just prior to the 2017 WA Regional Arts Summit. Geraldton’s Julian Canny is more than just a stand-up, a performer or an organiser – he’s a Ringleader of one of the Mid West’s most notorious comedy cartel, The Comedy Emporium. With his team at the Comedy Emporium, Canny has enlivened the Mid West’s entertainment circuit and its surrounds, inspiring and tickling audiences around WA and the whole country. Following two devastating bushfires in 2015, the South West community of Northcliffe worked with sculptor Kim Perrier to create plaster casts of the local community throughout the Understorey Art & Nature Trail as part of the town’s rebuilding process. The project brought together locals from all walks of life within the town – from dairy farmers and members of the fire brigade to public servants and the local arts community. Over 60 people had their faces, torsos or full-figures casted in plaster. The resulting reliefs were adhered to burnt trees throughout the trail, creating a public art project that merges creativity, recovery, nature and discovery. Learn more about Rising from the Ashes - Northcliffe's story of creative recovery - at the 2017 WA Regional Arts Summit in Mandurah, 12 - 15 October.

What's your love story? Barbara and Barry: Sweet, Sour & Saucy is currently touring regional WA as a part of Shows on the Go, offering well-intentioned but questionable love advice and cabaret numbers from an agony aunt/uncle duo. They're collecting love stories on the @actbelongcommit wall along the way - be sure to share yours when Barbara and Barry stop in your town. Head to the Country Arts WA website for the full schedule. 📷: Janie Davidson
