Drug Aware Dunsborough StART

Regional Arts WA

In April of 2016, young Busselton artist Jack Bromell teamed up with young students from the South West Institute of Technology to design and create a collaborative public artwork.

The project added a youth element to a larger street art project in Dunsborough, and allowed local youth to participate in a flourishing local street art scene by painting their own collaborative piece on a shopping centre wall in a central location.

Each participating student brought their individual style and ideas to the group design sessions and were guided by Jack’s professional experience to create the final piece. The central location of the painting activities attracted much interest from the wider community, and participants received positive feedback and coverage from the local newspaper.

This experience made me understand the importance of collaboration in creative practice and how beneficial it can be. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know each student as well. Every individual has their own style and their own view point. Reaching a middle ground in respect to design ideas was a fantastic educational experience as well as bringing us all closer as people and friends. Jack Bromell

“… all the students involved were noticeably proud and excited to be involved.Jack Bromell

I liked the participation and input of everyone who walked past, it had a real community feel.Sarah Wittner, 16.
